If you would like perk up the regular plain old rice you cook, try flavoring it with few cumin seeds. It give it a smokey flavor and changes the whole experience of eating rice.
rice-3 cups (soaked)
cumin seeds-2 tbs
clarified butter-1-2 tbs
Heat oil in a pot and pop in the cumin seeds. Once they turn darker in color, add the drained rice to the pot and stir until the grains are coated with butter. Pour the water and add salt and cook on high heat, with a tight fitting lid, until the rice is cooked and all the water absorbed. Reduce the heat to a medium for 5-6 minutes or until you see the steam escape. Turn off the stove, fluff up the cooked rice with a fork and serve hot. Enjoy!
