Masoor ki daal with Kairi ( Red lentils with raw mango)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.

This is an adapted recipe from www.sinfullyspicy.com. I never ate Masoor ki daal as a kid and have been cooking and loving it as an adult! It takes the least amount of time to get cooked and can be cooked and served on days when you are running short on time.

Ingredients:

Masoor ki daal-1 cup
water-2 1/2 cups
raw mango-1 whole, peeled and finely grated
alt- to taste
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
oil- 1tbs
cilantro-1 tbs, washed, chopped( for garnishing)

for tempering..,

oil- i tbs
cumin seeds-1 tsp
mustard seeds-1 tsp
black seed-1 tsp
cloves-3-4
dry red chillies-2-3
red chili powder-1 tsp

Method: Cook daal with turmeric powder, grated mango  and 1 tbs of oil,  until the daal is just cooked and soft but not mushy. Add salt, stir and set aside. In a saute pan, heat the remaining oil and add cumin seeds, black seeds, mustard seeds, dry chilly and turn off the stove. Put the red chili powder into the oil and stir. Pour the tempering on the daal and cover with a lid. Just before serving, garnish with chopped cilantro.. Enjoy!
