Orange juice cake

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

This is my Mom's recipe and like always, the cake was very soft and needed the least ingredients and was ready in less than 20 minutes. Any beginner can bake this and feel good insha Allah:)


All purpose flour-1 cup
vegetable oil-1/2 cup
sugar-1/2 cup
salt-a pinch
baking powder-1 tsp
orange juice-3 tbs
milk-1 tbs
orange peel-1/2 cup(washed, and cut into 1 inch pieces)

Method: Pre-heat oven to 400 deg F. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder for a couple times and set aside. In a round bowl, beat the egg,combine sugar, oil, orange juice and milk. Slowly fold in the flour and mix with a round spoon till till the batter is well mixed and falls in soft folds. Grease a 9 inch baking pan and pour the batter. Simply place the pieces of orange peel on the batter, face up all over the batter. Put the pan in the oven for 10-12 minutes and then keep watching it until the top turns slightly brown and insert a toothpick r a knife and when it comes out clean, immediately turn off the oven and pull the pan out of the oven. When it cools down a little bit, flip it onto a cooling rack  and cut it into clices and enjoy!

  1. This cake looks great! I love the idea of putting the orange peel on the surface, it doesn't burn or sink in and makes a great design on the cake! :D
