Tomato salad made with plain old onions, mint leaves and cilantro, seasoned with the very old mustard seeds and cumin seeds tastes delish and goes well with any old meat or chicken curry with rotis or rice.
Tomatoes on the vine-4 large, washed and cubed
onions-1 small, finely sliced
cilantro- 1 tbs, chopped
mint leaves-1 tbs, finely chopped
salt- to taste
oil- 1 tsp
cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
dry red chillies-3
Method: In a big bowl, put the cubed tomatoes, salt, cilantro, mint, onions, and give it a toss making sure everything gets mixed. Transfer to a serving bowl. Heat oil in a saute pan and put mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chillies. When the seeds pop and the chillies change color, pu the asafoetida and quickly pour the mixture on top of the salad in the serving bowl. Enjoy!
